The bond between a child and their mother is unmatched and can leave a lasting impression on the way that person sees the world. I was lucky enough to have someone like Maya Angelou, the iconic American poet and memoirist, to call my Mother. My Mother Maya Angelou taught me a variety of lessons about life, love and determination. She instilled a sense of self-confidence and pride that I still carry today.

Growing up, my mother Maya Angelou was more a friend than a parent. She pushed me to discover who I am and express myself freely.
